End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Chris Pappas (NH-01) is advancing to the general election:
“Congressman Chris Pappas has fought to unrig the broken system in Washington since the moment he was elected. In 2018, he won this battleground district by running a reform-focused campaign and rejecting corporate PAC money. In Congress, he led efforts to pass the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics reform bill since Watergate, and stood up against Big Pharma on behalf of New Hampshire families. Matt Mowers is in the pocket of corporate special interests while Chris remains driven to deliver results for Granite Staters. We’re proud to stand with Congressman Chris Pappas as he heads into the general election.”
ECU endorsed Pappas’ re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. Pappas, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 9,600 in NH-01, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
