End Citizens United and Let America Vote Stand with Rep. Tom Malinowski Heading into General Election

Jul 08, 2020

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Tom Malinowski (NJ-07):

“Congressman Tom Malinowski is standing up to the status quo in Washington by fighting to root out corruption. In 2018, he won this competitive district by rejecting corporate PAC money and running a grassroots-powered campaign of small, individual donors. In Congress, he’s followed through on his commitment to making government work for all New Jersey families since day one, from helping pass the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, voting rights, and ethics bill since Watergate to reducing the cost of prescription drugs. Meanwhile, Tom Kean, Jr. has taken thousands in Big Oil PAC contributions, including from Koch Industries, Exxon Mobil, and his former employer, BP. We look forward to re-electing Congressman Malinowski so he can continue the incredible work he’s started.”

ECU endorsed Malinowski’s re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. ECU has raised and donated more than $94,000 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Malinowski’s campaign, and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. Malinowski, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 8,600 in NJ-07, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
