End Citizens United and Let America Vote Statement on Bipartisan Vote to Impeach President Donald Trump

Jan 13, 2021

End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the U.S. House’s bipartisan vote to impeach President Donald Trump, making him the first president in history to be impeached twice, after he incited an armed insurrection against the United States government in an attempt to overthrow a legitimate election and undermine American democracy last Wednesday:

“President Donald Trump’s dangerous actions and rhetoric that led to the seditious attack on the United States Capitol were a violation of his oath to the Constitution, making the House’s second impeachment vote a necessary step to safeguard our democracy. The fact that the vote was bipartisan speaks volumes to the seriousness of Donald Trump’s betrayal of his office and his duties to this country. Mitch McConnell, who has enabled the President’s malicious behavior since the moment he took office, must immediately bring back the Senate and start an impeachment trial. The Senate must rise to meet this dark moment in our country’s history and vote to remove this dangerous President from the White House.”
