End Citizens United and Let America Vote Statement on Fourth Coronavirus Relief Package

Apr 23, 2020

End Citizens United Action Fund and Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the $480 billion fourth coronavirus bill which passed the Senate on Tuesday and the House today:

“We’re grateful that the fourth coronavirus relief package includes crucial components that will help small businesses and families across the country get back on their feet, but it completely fails to address the voting rights crisis brought on by the coronavirus. States and localities have been raising the alarm that they are woefully underfunded to take on the expected surge of mail-in ballots.

“Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell and his cronies have been relentless in their plan to limit Americans from voting. It’s a disgusting display of what’s wrong with Washington. The Trump Administration specifically excluded funding for the U.S. Postal Service, and Republicans have resisted increasing funding to help states make it easy and safe to vote.

“End Citizens United and Let America Vote are grateful to Speaker Pelosi and Leader Schumer for their efforts to respond to Americans’ needs and their efforts to increase funding for election preparedness. We’ll continue to harness the energy and enthusiasm of our grassroots members to make sure election funding is included in the next relief package.”
