End Citizens United and Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the grand jury announcement in the case of the murder of Breonna Taylor:
“If there ever were a question about whether there was systemic racism and inequality in our justice system, this answers it. Officers must be held accountable for brutality and outright murder. This dearth of justice is a stain on our country’s history dating back to its founding. Our democracy has failed to account for the value of Black lives, and that sin continues to weigh on every aspect of our society, holding America back from meeting its aspirational mission to offer its people life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We must use this moment as an inflection point to force change, to rebuild our democracy so everyone has a voice and a vote, and to ensure that opportunity and equality are realities for all. We must be better. Black Lives Matter.”
