End Citizens United Congratulates Cal Cunningham on North Carolina Primary Victory

Mar 03, 2020

End Citizens United (ECU) President released the following statement congratulating North Carolina U.S. Senate candidate, Cal Cunningham, for winning the Democratic primary:

“Congratulations to Cal Cunningham on his victory tonight and overcoming Mitch McConnell’s corrupt Washington super PAC. Cal is a veteran who rejected corporate PAC money from day one of his campaign and put forward a bold anti-corruption plan to make Washington work for North Carolina instead of corporate special interests. Today, voters were loud and clear about their support for cleaning up the corrupt system in Washington that Thom Tillis and Mitch McConnell helped create. We look forward to helping Cal win in November.”

End Citizens United (ECU) endorsed Cal Cunningham in July 2019 because of his commitment to fight corruption and making Washington work for North Carolinians. Cunningham, who rejects donations from corporate PACs, is running a grassroots campaign powered by small-dollar donors. As one of his first major policy announcements, Cunningham unveiled a bold and comprehensive agenda to rein in the influence of special interests and crack down on corruption in Washington.

In January, End Citizens United Action Fund released its first annual legislative scorecard that tracked and graded the efforts of every member of Congress on money in politics and government reform issues. Senator Thom Tillis received an “F” for failing to support common sense legislation that roots out corruption, increases transparency, and strengthens ethics in government.
