End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating Congressman-elect Josh Riley on being elected to New York’s 19th Congressional District:
“Congratulations to Congressman-elect Josh Riley on his impressive win. He focused his campaign from day one on standing up to corporate special interests to put the priorities of working families first. It’s why he’s always rejected corporate PAC money and instead grew a powerful, people-powered campaign. We’re excited to work with Congressman-elect Riley in the fight to root out corruption and defend our democracy.”
ECU endorsed Riley as part of its first slate of challenger endorsements this cycle, highlighting the importance of the race, and led the charge in holding corrupt career politician Rep. Marc Molinaro accountable.
In April 2023, ECU filed a complaint against Rep. Molinaro, alleging that he illegally transferred funds and resources from his statewide fundraising committee to his federal fundraising committee – which forced him to eventually return the money in question. ECU closed out the campaign with a six-figure ad campaign attacking Rep. Molinaro for receiving $500,000 from corporations and their political action committees and opposed the law to cap prescription drug costs and holding drug companies accountable for price gouging. ECU named Rep. Molinaro to its “Most Corrupt” politicians list, citing his record as a career politician selling out to corporate special interests.
ECU is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.
