End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement congratulating Congressman Jared Golden on his reelection to Maine’s 2nd Congressional District:
“Congratulations to Congressman Jared Golden on winning reelection in one of the toughest races in the country. Every election cycle, Rep. Golden proves that he doesn’t need the backing of corporate special interests to run a winning campaign; he just needs the trust and support of his constituents. His refusal to take corporate PAC money sets him apart from the status quo in Washington––and it allows him to take on the big fights, like lowering the cost of prescription drugs and tackling the influence of Big Money in politics. We’re thrilled to see him win, and we look forward to continuing to support his work to make government more accountable to the people.”
ECU has been a longtime supporter of Congressman Golden, dating back to his very first run for Congress. Congressman Golden, who received an “A” on ECU’s anti-corruption and voting rights legislative scorecard earlier this year, has been one of the leading voices in Congress for passing meaningful reforms to get Big Money out of politics and making government more accountable to working families. In August 2024, Muller penned an op-ed in the Portland Press Herald defending Golden’s commitment to his no corporate PAC pledge.
ECU is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. The group has supported Golden since his very first run for Congress.
