End Citizens United Endorses Andrew Janz Against Devin Nunes in CA-22

Feb 05, 2018

Janz, a prosecutor, is rejecting all corporate PAC money and is committed to reforming the rigged system in Washington

The infamous Congressman Nunes is undermining the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election

End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Andrew Janz for Congress in California’s 22nd Congressional district. Janz is rejecting all corporate PAC money in his bid for Congress. He’s committed to reforming the broken system in Washington that allows special interests, even foreign governments, to spend unlimited amounts of money in secret to influence our elections.

Janz’s opponent, Congressman Devin Nunes, is abusing his power and authority as chair of the House Intelligence Committee, breaking the tradition of bipartisanship on national security issues, and disseminating misleading information to undermine the investigation into Russian interference in the Presidential election — an investigation that includes, in part, a search to determine how Russia manipulated loopholes in our campaign finance system and how much money it spent to influence voters.

“Andrew’s decision to reject all corporate PAC money is a testament to his dedication to representing Californians. He believes Washington should put people before special interests – whether those interests are from Wall Street or Russia,” ECU President Tiffany Muller, said. “Meanwhile, Congressman Nunes’ continued interference in the Russia investigation is a grave threat to the security of our elections and our democracy.”

“I’ve been talking about getting secret money out of politics since the day that I announced my run for Congress here in CA-22. Devin Nunes is the poster boy of why corporate money must be removed from our political process. I’m extremely proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United,” said Janz.

The endorsement comes on the heels of a highly controversial and inaccurate memo Nunes authored and released to undercut the investigations surrounding foreign interference in the 2016 elections. Among the important goals of the investigation, it can help shine a light on our electoral system’s vulnerability to manipulation by a foreign government and big-money secretive special interests.

ECU’s endorsement will connect Janz with its nearly 2,800 grassroots members in CA-22 as well as its national network of 400,000 small-dollar donors. With an average donation of $14, ECU is projected to raise $35 million for the 2018 election cycle.

ECU is a grassroots powered organization giving a voice to millions of American families. The group is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics so Congress focuses on all of us and not only its biggest special interest donors.
