A fifth-generation Minnesotan, Feehan is rejecting corporate PAC money
End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed Dan Feehan for Congress in Minnesota’s First Congressional District. Feehan is building a people-powered campaign and is part of the growing movement of candidates to reject corporate PAC money.
“Throughout his career as a soldier, a teacher, and as a national security expert, Dan Feehan has put Minnesotans first and will continue to do so in Congress,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Meanwhile, Representative Hagedorn panders to the corporate special interests that put him in office. After taking $32,000 from Wall Street for his 2018 campaign, Hagedorn voted against protecting the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and worked to make it harder for consumers to get justice from banks that wronged them. Dan Feehan owes no favors to corporate special interests, and he never will because he rejects corporate PAC money. End Citizens United is proud to endorse Dan Feehan, and we look forward to helping him win in 2020.”
“I’m running for Congress to stand up for the people who make America work,” said Dan Feehan. “Washington runs amok with politicians like Jim Hagedorn who are beholden to Wall Street, Big Oil and Big Pharma’s influence. When Jim Hagedorn accepts over $21,000 in campaign contributions from Big Oil while standing idly by as the Trump administration gave ethanol waivers, he showed yet again that he will not fight for our farmers and ag communities. I’m not taking a dime of corporate PAC money and will only serve the interests of Minnesotans in Congress. I’m honored to have End Citizens United’s endorsement, and I look forward to fighting corruption alongside them.”
During the 2018 election cycle, ECU spearheaded the movement among candidates to forgo corporate PAC money in their campaigns. In the 116th Congress, nearly 60 members are refusing to take corporate PAC money, which includes 27 members of the House freshman class who flipped their district. Prior to the 2018 election cycle, less than 10 members of Congress refused corporate PAC money.
ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington D.C. so government works for all Americans. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 4,500 in MN-01, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
