Tims is fighting for reform to make progress on critical issues affecting Southwest Ohioans, including gun safety, access to healthcare, and climate change

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Desiree Tims for Congress in Ohio’s Tenth Congressional District. Tims is rejecting corporate PAC money, proving she will put Ohio families’ needs ahead of corporate special interests in Congress.

“For far too long, corporate special interests have manipulated how politicians in Washington vote and drowned out the voices of working people. By rejecting corporate PAC money, Desiree is proving that she’s listening to voters and working to root out corruption,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “In Congress, Tims will only be accountable to Southwest Ohioans, not corporate special interests. We are proud to endorse Desiree Tims and look forward to helping her win.”

“Politicians in Washington hold backdoor meetings with wealthy donors and large corporations while ignoring the needs of Southwest Ohio families,” said Desiree Tims. “I’m running for Congress to put an end to corruption. I will fight everyday against voter suppression and the outsized influence of money in politics. Together, we can reform our democracy and make every voice count.”

bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.

ECU and LAV recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 6,200 in Ohio’s Tenth Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
