The proposed amendment will shine a light on dark money spending in Arizona elections
End Citizens United (ECU) today endorsed the Outlaw Dirty Money 2020 ballot initiative in Arizona. The initiative seeks to increase transparency and help prevent corruption by requiring political dark money groups that spend in elections to publicly disclose their major donors.
“The flood of dark money in politics is drowning out the voices of Arizona families, and it’s skewing policy outcomes to benefit mega-donors and corporate special interests,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “The Outlaw Dirty Money amendment will shine a much-needed light on unlimited and undisclosed political spending in Arizona. End Citizens United is proud to endorse the amendment, and we look forward to connecting our Arizona members with the campaign to fight back against the corrupting influence of Big Money.”
The full language of the amendment can be found here.
ECU was established in March 2015 to counter the harmful effects of Citizens Unitedand reform our campaign finance system. ECU has over four million members, including 92,000 in Arizona. Its affiliated project, Fight For Reform, focuses on bringing transparency and accountability to state and local elections around the country. Fight For Reform will connect grassroots activists and donors with Outlaw Dirty Money.
