Combined with $2 million to candidates, ECU has raised a total of $12 million this year from grassroots donors
WASHINGTON, DC – End Citizens United today announced it has raised $2 million this year for candidates it has endorsed as the group seeks to elect reformers to Congress.
Among the candidates ECU has endorsed this year include, champions on the issue such as Senate challengers Rep. Jacky Rosen and Rep. Beto O’Rourke, House challengers Randy Bryce (WI-1), Paul Davis (KS-2), and Chrissy Houlahan (PA-6), and leaders in Congress such as Senators Elizabeth Warren, Jon Tester, and Sherrod Brown.
A sign of the grassroots energy and enthusiasm this cycle, ECU’s endorsed candidate fundraising haul represents a drastic increase from the 2016 cycle. ECU members gave $600,000 to endorsed candidates during the entire 2016 cycle. Combined with the $2 million directly to candidates, ECU has raised a total of more than $12 million in 2017.
“Americans are fed up with the rigged system where politicians are in the pockets of special interests,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “We’ve seen incredible support for reform, and it isn’t slowing down. Our members are engaged and will fight to elect candidates who are going to change the system and restore the voice of the people to Washington.”
ECU is a grassroots-funded organization dedicated to electing members of Congress who will fight to overturn Citizens United and pass meaningful campaign finance reform that will remove unlimited, undisclosed money from our political system. Founded two years ago, the group has grown to more than three million members.
