End Citizens United (ECU) is launching a six-figure mail campaign hitting corrupt Rep. Ken Calvert in California’s 41st Congressional District. The mailers contrast the self-dealing of Rep. Calvert, whose personal fortune has increased by $20 million in his 32 years in Congress, with former prosecutor Will Rollins who is campaigning to root out corruption in Washington.
The ad campaign consists of two mailers — “Pockets” and “Rain” — which will be sent to key persuadable voters throughout the district in the coming days.
“Corrupt Calvert has done nothing but line his pockets throughout his 32-year career in Congress,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “We’re going to make sure voters know that while Corrupt Calvert has only looked out for his own bottom line, Will Rollins will actually fight for them in Washington.”
In August, ECU filed a complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics against Rep. Calvert for failing to disclose several properties on his personal financial disclosures and conflicts of interest involving earmarked funds to boost the value of those properties. Earlier this year, ECU named Rep. Calvert to its inaugural “Most Corrupt” politicians list.
