End Citizens United // Let America Vote Announce First Round of House Endorsements for 2022 Cycle

Jun 02, 2021

End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) today announced its first round of House of Representatives endorsements for the 2022 election cycle.

The endorsements include Rep. Josh Harder (CA-10), Rep. Katie Porter (CA-45), Rep. Mike Levin (CA-49), Rep. Jason Crow (CO-06), Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-06), Rep. Lauren Underwood (IL-14), Rep. Sharice Davids (KS-03), Rep. Jared Golden (ME-02), Rep. Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Rep. Dean Phillips (MN-03), Rep. Chris Pappas (NH-01), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07), Rep. Antonio Delgado (NY-19), Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07), Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) and Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-08).

All 18 candidates were first elected to the House in 2018 as part of the historic class that flipped the chamber by running on the issue of anti-corruption. Since arriving in Washington they have followed through on their promise to return power to regular people by twice leading the effort to pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1)––a once-in-a-generation anti-corruption bill that would stop billionaires and corporate special interests from buying our elections, shine a light on dark money, end partisan gerrymandering, protect the freedom to vote, and institute iron-clad ethics laws.

“These candidates first ran in 2018 because they saw that corporate special interests and dark money groups were blocking progress on issues like lowering prescription drug costs and raising wages, and they have been champions for our democracy ever since,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “During their time in the House, these reformers have fought tirelessly to build a democracy that is responsive to working families and have never wavered from their commitments to take on the corrupt status-quo in Washington. With dark money-fueled voter suppression legislation being passed around the country, and special interests corrupting our democracy, it has never been more crucial to have these reform champions in Congress. We’re proud to endorse them, and we look forward to helping re-elect them.”

ECU // LAV raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle. Its $12.5 million independent expenditure made it the 4th largest issue group spending on the Democratic side. ECU // LAV’s members raised $9.5 million directly for endorsed candidates and state ballot measures. The group also donated over $2.5 million directly to its endorsed campaigns.

ECU // LAV merged in 2020. The group is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. ECU led the effort to flip the House in 2018 by supporting pro-reform candidates that stood up to Big Money and corporate special interests. In 2020, ECU // LAV led the fight to protect all Americans’ right to vote, and played a pivotal role in electing anti-corruption Senate candidates that helped flip the chamber. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide.
