End Citizens United//Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the swearing-in of Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff to the United States Senate after their victories in the Georgia runoff elections that flipped the Senate:
“Congratulations to Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock on becoming Georgia’s U.S. Senators and making the Democratic Senate majority. Since the moment they announced their candidacies, Senators Warnock and Ossoff have been anti-corruption and voting rights champions, pledging to protect and restore the foundations of our democracy. After a year where the integrity of our elections was attacked, especially in their home state of Georgia, we are eager to work with them to honor the legacy of John Lewis by passing the John Lewis Voter Empowerment Act, which is the first section of the For the People Act (S. 1), as well as the John Lewis Voting Rights Act.”
End Citizens United (ECU) released a new video recapping how the organization’s mission and message dominated the Georgia runoff elections. ECU had a total impact of over $2.4 million in Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff’s races. That includes both raising and donating over $1,856,800 for Warnock and Ossoff in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle, and a $600,000 ad campaign including a $400,000 broadcast, streaming, and cable TV ad campaign; a $75,000 digital campaign; and a $125,000 direct mail campaign. ECU and LAV hosted a total of seven virtual campaign events for Warnock and Ossoff discussing their commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including over 75,000 in Georgia, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
