End Citizens United // Let America Vote Congratulates Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez on Advancing to the General Election

Jun 07, 2022

End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the primary election results in NM-03:

“Congratulations to Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez on her victory. During her time in Washington, she has been a leader in protecting the freedom to vote for New Mexicans. She supported the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, one of the most significant anti-corruption and voting rights bills in generations. Thanks to Congresswoman Leger Fernandez, the bill included several election protections and reforms for tribal communities, including ensuring redistricting maps minimize the division of tribal jurisdictions during redistricting; requiring states to ensure fair and equitable wait times and that voters wait less than 30 minutes to vote at the polls; and allowing Indian Tribes to designate buildings as ballot pickup and collection locations for federal elections.

“We need Congresswoman Leger Fernandez in Washington to keep fighting against the corporate special interests and protect Americans’ freedom to vote, and we’re excited to re-elect her this November.”
