End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller issued the below statement congratulating Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold and Attorney General Phil Weiser for being officially nominated to be the Democratic candidate for Secretary of State and Attorney General:
“Congratulations to Secretary Griswold and Attorney General Weiser on their nominations for re-election.
“Throughout her first term in office, Secretary Griswold has been a champion for protecting the freedom to vote. From leading efforts to increase the number of ballot boxes and polling locations in Colorado to speaking out against election sabotage efforts, Griswold has always fought to ensure every Coloradan has a voice that can be heard and counted in our elections. It is because of Secretary Griswold’s work to expand access to the ballot box that Colorado had the 2nd highest turnout of any state in the 2020 election. She has also been an anti-corruption leader, working to advance critical legislation in Colorado that would end dark money and ensure the wealthy can no longer buy Colorado elections.
“Attorney General Weiser has led on anti-corruption and voting rights in Colorado. He’s stood up for the people of Colorado against exploitative corporations, suing Big Pharma for their role in exacerbating the opioid crisis. Last year, he took on a dark money group backed by wealthy donors that was trying to avoid anti-corruption transparency laws in Colorado. And when the Trump administration tried to use the pandemic in 2020 to undermine the freedom to vote and sabotage our elections, it was Attorney General Weiser fighting on the front lines to ensure that every Coloradan–and every American–could make their voice heard and their vote counted at the ballot box.
