Nov 03, 2021

End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating the ECU // LAV endorsed Virginia House of Delegates candidates who were victorious in last night’s elections:

“Congratulations to Wendy Gooditis (HD-10), Sam Rasoul (HD-11), Danica Roem (HD-13), Kelly Convirs-Fowler (HD-21), Dan Helmer (HD-40), Kathy Tran (HD-42), Michelle Maldonado (HD-50), Briana Sewell (HD-51), Sally Hudson (HD-57), Schuyler VanValkenburg (HD-72), Rodney Willett (HD-73), Clint Jenkins (HD-76), Mike Mullin (HD-93), Shelley Simonds (HD-94), and Cia Price (HD-95) on their victories! This slate of anti-corruption and voting rights advocates will be headed to Richmond to protect the freedom to vote and tackle the corrosive influence of big money in Virginia politics. We await results in additional districts and look forward to every vote being counted.

“These candidates have made tremendous progress on protecting the freedom to vote by passing the Virginia Voting Rights Act into law earlier this year. We will stand with them as they fight to protect the progress they’ve made on this critical issue.

“With these delegates in office, Virginians will have a set of champions in the House of Delegates working to get big money out of politics and protecting the voice and vote of all Virginians, so they can have a say on the issues that matter most, like lowering the cost of prescription drugs and combating climate change. We look forward to working with these Delegates-elect to keep making Virginia better for hard-working families.”

ECU // LAV endorsed a slate of Virginia House of Delegates candidates because of their leadership in unrigging the broken campaign finance system in Virginia and commitment to protecting the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV held a press event with delegate candidates in key races to roll out their anti-corruption agenda and sent staff members to knock doors and get-out-the-vote for delegate candidates in the most competitive elections.

ECU // LAV raised and donated more than $38,000 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to these delegate candidates’ campaigns. The anti-corruption and voting rights group has four million members nationwide, including 75,854 in Virginia, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
