End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed Congressman Jamaal Bowman for re-election in NY-16.

“At a time when we are seeing nefarious efforts nationwide to restrict the freedom to vote, we need Congressman Jamaal Bowman in Washington fighting to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to make their voice heard. Throughout his time in Congress, he’s been a voting rights champion, supporting once-in-a-generation anti-corruption and voting rights bills, and other important efforts to expand access to the ballot. He has also made the bold decision to reject corporate PAC and lobbyist money, so that New Yorkers know he’s working for them, not D.C. special interests,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “We are proud of the work he has done so far and excited to get him re-elected.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by End Citizens United and Let America Vote. For too long, the interests of the wealthy and powerful have been prioritized over the voices of working families, preventing progress on issues that matter to the American people. And in the past year and a half, we’ve seen a coordinated, dark money-backed effort to restrict the freedom to vote, particularly for Black and Brown Americans. I’ve fought to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard loud in our elections, and look forward to working with ECU and LAV to continue that fight,” said Congressman Jamaal Bowman.

Congressman Bowman is running for re-election to continue protecting access to the ballot box. In January, when the Senate was entering the final votes on the Freedom to Vote Act, Bowman stood with voting rights activists and was arrested while participating in a voting rights protest. He’s also introduced critical measures to expand access to the ballot and give more people the freedom to make their voices heard.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote.
