End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger for Virginia Governor

Apr 17, 2024

End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed U.S. Representative Abigail Spanberger for Governor of Virginia.

“Congresswoman Spanberger is running for Governor to put Virginia on the side of working families—not special interests,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “She knows that our government—at all levels—can only truly work when everyone’s voices are heard, which is why she’s built a reputation for working to root out corruption and end Big Money’s corrosive impact in our politics. We’re proud to endorse Congresswoman Spanberger and look forward to helping her win in 2025.”

“I’m proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United // Let America Vote—an organization that shares my conviction that our government will never be truly representative of the people until we make sure everyone has an equal voice in our democracy,” said Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. “In Congress, I’ve proudly stood up to special interests, worked to prevent corruption, and strived to rebuild public faith in our institutions. And as Governor, I will always safeguard every Virginian’s access to the ballot box and fight for the issues that matter most to Virginia’s families and Virginia’s economy. Together, we will not only protect our democracy—but we will strengthen it.”

Congresswoman Spanberger was first elected to the U.S. House in 2018 as part of a historic class of lawmakers by promising to stand up for working families, protect and expand voting rights, and be responsive to the people.

With her bipartisan TRUST in Congress Act, she has championed the effort to ban Members of Congress and their families from trading individual stocks while in office. In her campaigns, she has never taken corporate PAC money, ensuring she is accountable to her constituents.

Congresswoman Spanberger also twice cosponsored the For the People Act (H.R. 1)––a once-in-a-generation anti-corruption bill, which included her Foreign Agent Disclaimer Enhancement (FADE) Act amendment that would protect against foreign interference in America’s elections. Additionally, she was a cosponsor of other crucial reform bills—including the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and the DISCLOSE Act.
