End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan for Re-election

Mar 31, 2022

End Citizens United // Let America Vote (ECU // LAV) today endorsed Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan for reelection in PA-06. Houlahan is a fierce advocate for making government more responsive to the people and has fought to root out corruption in Washington and protect the freedom to vote.

“Congresswoman Houlahan understands that the root of inaction on the issues important to Pennsylvania families – like supporting small businesses, climate change, or lowering the cost of prescription drugs – are corporate special interests and billionaire mega-donors. That’s why she has been one of the leading voices in the House to pass comprehensive legislation to limit the corrosive and corrupting influence of unlimited and undisclosed money in politics,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “We’re proud to endorse Congresswoman Houlahan and we look forward to helping re-elect her so she can continue the incredible work she’s started.”

“Too often, the work we do in Congress to improve the lives of the American people is stifled by special interests and wealthy donors that want to maintain the status quo because it’s working perfectly fine for them. It’s why I’ve made fixing our democracy – whether it’s getting big money out of politics or protecting access to the ballot box – a key priority of my work in Washington,” said Congresswoman Chrissy Houlahan. “I’m proud to be endorsed by End Citizens United and Let America Vote, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to make these reforms a reality.”

Whether it’s tackling big money in politics, fighting against anti-voter laws, or ending gerrymandering, Chrissy Houlahan has been at the forefront of protecting our democracy. Houlahan was a co-sponsor of the For the People Act, the most comprehensive anti-corruption and voting rights legislation in generations. Her “Stop Supporting Foreign Interference in Our Democracy Act” was included in the bill, which would have made it easier to prosecute Americans who knowingly provide assistance of any kind to foreign powers attempting to interfere in our elections. Houlahan also took the rare approach of selling her individual stocks before she was sworn into office to make it clear to her constituents that she is only going to work for their interests in Congress. She also co-sponsored legislation to stop members of Congress from investing in stocks and has supported lobbying reforms to increase transparency and accountability.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide, including over 300,000 in Pennsylvania.
