Mar 29, 2022

Omar is refusing to take any corporate PAC money for her campaign

End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed Congresswoman Ilhan Omar for re-election in Minnesota’s 5th congressional district.

Congresswoman Omar has been a leading anti-corruption champion in Washington, refusing to take a single penny from corporate PACs and pushing for legislation that would prevent corporations that are convicted of crimes from giving money to politicians, while working to increase transparency in campaign finance reporting. She also fought vigorously to pass the Freedom to Vote Act and advocated measures to make Election Day a national holiday and to implement automatic voter registration.

“Congresswoman Omar is dedicated to making sure our system works for the people of Minnesota. During her time in Congress, she’s worked hard to hold corrupt politicians accountable while fighting to protect the voice and vote of Americans,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “Congresswoman Omar will continue to be a champion for the people of Minnesota’s 5th congressional district and we’re excited to endorse her for re-election.”

“I am honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United // Let America Vote. Protecting the freedom to vote and combating corporate America’s corrupting influence in Washington are issues that all Americans support. ECU // LAV has led the charge to prioritize anti-corruption and voting rights bills in Washington and I am proud to have their endorsement in this campaign,” said Congresswoman Omar.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide, including over 120,000 in Minnesota.
