End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Jennifer McClellan for Congress

Dec 16, 2022

End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed Jennifer McClellan for Congress in the VA-04 special election.

“Throughout her time in the state legislature, Jennifer McClellan has been a champion for our democracy, fighting corruption and working to protect the voice and vote of every Virginian.” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “We need her in Congress to protect the freedom to vote and stand up for Virginia families. We’re thrilled to endorse her campaign.”

“I’m proud to have the endorsement of End Citizens United, and I look forward to partnering with them in the U.S. Congress to strengthen our democracy. Passing the Voting Rights Act of Virginia has been one of my proudest accomplishments in 17 years in the Virginia General Assembly. I look forward to continuing to work on legislation in Congress to strengthen voting rights and ensure that our government truly works on behalf of all Americans. I’ve been a key leader on ethics reform in Virginia, and I will continue this work in Congress to restore faith in an open and transparent political system,” said Jennifer McClellan.

As a member of the state legislature, McClellan fought back against restrictive voting laws and helped pass the Voting Rights Act of Virginia, the first law of its kind in the South. She also pushed for anti-corruption measures to fix our broken system like limiting donations from public utilities, capping the amount of money politicians can accept, and banning politicians from spending campaign funds on lavish personal expenses.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent over $80 million in the 2022 election cycle to elect pro-democracy and anti-corruption candidates and to advocate for legislation to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide.
