End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Josh Riley for Congress

Sep 27, 2023

Riley is part of ECU // LAV’s first slate of congressional challenger endorsements this cycle, signaling the critical importance of this race

End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Josh Riley for Congress (NY-19) as part of its first House challenger endorsements for the 2024 cycle.

“Unlike Congressman Marc Molinaro who has accepted over $125,000 from corporate PACs, Josh Riley refuses to take corporate PAC money because he knows that government works best when our leaders are free from undue influence by deep-pocketed special interests,” said Tiffany Muller, President of ECU // LAV. “At this critical time of partisan extremists erecting unprecedented barriers to the ballot box and corporate special interests spending unlimited money to buy our elections, we need Josh in Congress to fight for the priorities of working Americans. We’re excited to endorse Josh Riley and help him win.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by End Citizens United // Let America Vote. For too long, Upstate New Yorkers have been sold out by politicians who care more about their corporate donors than their constituents. I’m running for Congress to change that,” said Josh Riley. “I am not taking any money from corporate PACs, so Upstate New Yorkers know that I only work for them. I look forward to working with ECU // LAV to root out corruption and return power to everyday people.”

Riley has a proven track record of championing transparency and accountability in our political system. As counsel on the Senate Judiciary Committee, he worked on a constitutional amendment to overturn the disastrous Citizens United decision and legislation, like the DISCLOSE Act, to make our campaign finance system more transparent. He has also fought to protect the freedom to vote, specifically working on legislation to restore Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act.

ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than 4 million members nationwide.
