End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Lateefah Simon for Congress

Feb 22, 2024

End Citizens United // Let America Vote (ECU // LAV) today endorsed Lateefah Simon for California’s 12th Congressional District. Simon is refusing to take corporate PAC money in her campaign.

“Lateefah Simon has spent her career working to improve the lives of California families and knows that in order to do so at the federal level, we need to root out the corrupting influence of Big Money in politics and safeguard the freedom to vote,” said Tiffany Muller, President of ECU // LAV. “She’s refusing corporate PAC money in her campaign to show voters that she’s running to represent them in Washington, not the special interests. We’re proud to endorse Lateefah and look forward to helping her win.”

“I’m thrilled to be endorsed by End Citizens United // Let America Vote, a group that has been at the forefront of protecting our democracy by safeguarding the freedom to vote and shining a light on Big Money’s corrupting influence,” said Lateefah Simon. “I understand the challenges that working families face and as Congresswoman, I will make sure they have a seat at the table. I am refusing to take any corporate PAC money because I am only accountable to the voters. I’m ready to get to work to ensure our government is truly representative of the people.”

Simon has spent her career fighting to better the lives of working families because she knows firsthand that the government often doesn’t work for people like her. She knows that to protect our democracy, we need to safeguard and expand voting rights, which is why she supports legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act, and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. Simon firmly supports legislation like the DISCLOSE Act and similar bills that will create better transparency and accountability in our government.

ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than 4 million members nationwide.
