End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Quaye Quartey for Congress

May 26, 2022

Quartey is running against one of Washington’s most self-serving politicians Congressman Mike Garcia

End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed Quaye Quartey for Congress in California’s 27th district.

“Quaye is the anti-corruption and voting rights champion that the people of Southern California deserve. As the son of an immigrant and U.S. Navy combat veteran, he’s defended our freedoms abroad and now he’s ready to protect our freedom to vote from corrupt, self-serving politicians at home. He’s been outspoken about the corrupting influence of money in politics, and will fight for working California families,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “We need Quaye in Washington to protect access to the ballot box, lower costs for working families, and ensure the will of the people is upheld, and we look forward to getting him elected.”

“I felt called to run for office when I saw a group of corrupt politicians try to overturn the 2020 election. I knew at that moment we needed leaders who would fight to protect our freedom to vote and ensure that the people’s voice is heard, just as I did when I defended democracy abroad. In Congress, I’ll work every day to make certain that politicians like Congressman Mike Garcia can’t silence our voices and sabotage our elections, which is why I’m so thrilled to be endorsed by End Citizens United // Let America Vote and look forward to working with them to win this race,” said Quaye Quartey.

Quartey is running against Congressman Mike Garcia, one of Washington’s most corrupt and self-serving politicians. Garcia voted to overturn the results of a free and fair election, silencing the voice of voters across the country. As a member of Congress, he’s consistently sided with his wealthy corporate-backed allies, not working California families. He opposed historic investments in California infrastructure and after taking over $225,000 from the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, he voted to allow Big Pharma to continue to gouge the prices of live-saving prescription drugs.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide.
