End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Rep. Angie Craig for Re-Election

Sep 09, 2021

Craig has established herself as a champion of voting rights and anti-corruption reform in Congress

End Citizens United // Let America Vote (ECU // LAV) today endorsed Congresswoman Angie Craig in Minnesota’s second congressional district as part of the group’s efforts to re-elect members of the Democratic House majority committed to limiting the influence of big money in politics and protecting the freedom to vote.

Since being elected to Congress in 2018, Rep. Craig has quickly established herself as a champion for anti-corruption, political transparency, and voting rights. Twice, Rep. Craig helped pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1) and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4), two critical pieces of legislation that will protect the freedom to vote, fight back against the corrupting influence of dark money in our elections, and eliminate partisan gerrymandering. Rep. Craig also authored the HUMBLE Act, which would ban former members of Congress from lobbying and current members from owning individual stocks.

“During her time in Congress, Rep. Craig has been a leader in fighting corruption and protecting the right to vote,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller. “We’re proud to endorse Rep. Craig so she can continue standing up for the people of Minnesota and fight back against corrupt special interests in Washington.”

“Since the day I was sworn in, End Citizens United has been a tireless advocate and trusted partner in our work to restore the American people’s faith in their elected officials by combatting corruption and ending the era of big money in our politics,” said Representative Angie Craig. “I am incredibly proud to accept this endorsement – and eternally grateful for all the work this crucial organization does to strengthen our democracy and protect the right to vote.”

ECU // LAV raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle and raised and contributed over $13,400 in support of Craig’s election. Its $12.5 million independent expenditure made it the 4th largest issue group spending on the Democratic side. ECU // LAV’s members raised $9.5 million directly for endorsed candidates and state ballot measures. The group also donated nearly $2.5 million directly to its endorsed campaigns.

ECU // LAV merged in 2020. The group is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. ECU led the effort to flip the House in 2018 by supporting pro-reform candidates that stood up to Big Money special interests. In 2020, ECU // LAV led the fight to protect all Americans’ right to vote, and played a pivotal role in electing anti-corruption Senate candidates that helped flip the chamber. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide, including 6,630 in MN-02.
