End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorses Summer Lee for Congress in PA-12

Apr 27, 2022

Lee is refusing to take corporate PAC money

End Citizens United // Let America Vote today endorsed State Rep. Summer Lee for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.

“State Representative Lee is exactly the champion the people of Pittsburgh need. Time and again she’s proven that she will stand up to corporate special interests that are trying to exploit Pennsylvania families. She’s spent her time in the State House, working to put more money in the pockets of her constituents, not the bank accounts of big oil and gas companies,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “We need Summer Lee in Congress to fight wealthy corporations on behalf of the people of Pennsylvania, and we are thrilled to endorse her campaign.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by End Citizens United and Let America Vote. As a member of the State House, I’ve always put the people I represent over any corporation or lobbyist. That’s why I haven’t taken a cent of corporate PAC money, and never will, and why I’ve stood up to Big Oil and gas companies trying to pollute our water supply and make Pennsylvanians less safe and healthy,” said State Rep. Summer Lee. “In Congress, I’ll keep standing up to greedy and exploitative corporations and lobbyists, increasing transparency, and making certain that our representatives are working for the people.”

Lee, who is refusing to take corporate PAC money, has been a champion for the people of Pennsylvania, standing up to corporate special interests–and winning. In the state legislature, she’s fought against corporations that want to pollute Pennsylvania’s water supply and worked for fair wages and good-paying jobs for the hard-working people of Pittsburgh. She’s been outspoken about protecting the freedom to vote, supporting efforts to stop the anti-voter laws being passed across the country, while ensuring that every Pennsylvanian can make their voice heard and have their vote counted. In Congress, she would support the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act, one of the most significant anti-corruption and voting rights legislation in generations, that would protect the freedom to vote and end dark money by making all political donations public.

ECU // LAV is a leading anti-corruption and voting rights group. The grassroots-funded political action committee raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle to elect candidates fighting to limit the influence of big money in politics and protect the freedom to vote. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide, including over 300,000 in Pennsylvania.
