End Citizens United // Let America Vote (ECU // LAV) today endorsed Tom Suozzi for Congress in the special election in New York’s 3rd congressional district.
“After being betrayed by the New York Republican party which enabled the fraud George Santos, it’s time to turn the page back to the honest and steady leadership that Tom Suozzi has exhibited throughout his career fighting for working families,” said Tiffany Muller, president of ECU // LAV. “He knows that our government is only strengthened when voters’ voices are heard, which is why he’s worked—and will continue to work—to pass pro-democracy legislation aimed at rooting out corruption and protecting the right to vote. We are proud to endorse him and look forward to helping him win.”
“I’ve spent my career standing up for people of New York’s 3rd congressional district, making sure their voices were heard over corrupt politicians bought by Big Money groups,” said Tom Suozzi. “I am proud to have the endorsement of End Citizens United // Let America Vote and look forward to working together to protect democracy and the right to vote, while getting dark money out of politics. The working families of this district deserve someone who will never stop fighting for the issues that matter most to them.”
Suozzi has a longstanding record of protecting the right to vote and working across the aisle to pass legislation that addresses the issues that matter most to working families. During his time in office, he supported legislation like the Freedom to Vote Act, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, and the DISCLOSE Act as an advocate for better transparency and accountability.
End Citizens United has been a leader in holding Santos accountable for his corruption and fraud. ECU has filed several complaints with the Federal Election Commission, the Office of Congressional Ethics, and the Department of Justice, providing evidence of Santos’ illegal activity.
ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than 4 million members nationwide.
