End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund released a new five figure ad buy today in Georgia warning voters about HB 1464, the latest restrictive voting bill passed by the Georgia House of Representatives.
After having passed one of the worst restrictive voter laws in the country, Governor Kemp said earlier this year that he would not make further changes to Georgia’s voting laws. But the new bill, HB 1464, would go further in allowing for increased voter intimidation and criminalization by giving the state Bureau of Investigation jurisdiction to investigate election cases. HB 1464 also makes it easier for partisan politicians to further undermine faith in our democracy by initiating sham ballot reviews that perpetuate the Big Lie which led to the deadly January 6 insurrection, and makes it harder for local election offices to receive critical funding to run elections in a fair and effective manner. 
“From sabotaging trusted local election officials, to allowing for sham ballot reviews that sow distrust of Georgia elections, to intimidating voters from casting a ballot, HB 1464 is an assault on the freedom to vote in Georgia,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller. “When this bill comes to Governor Kemp’s desk, he must keep his word and veto this egregious and dangerous bill.”
