“We applaud the U.S. House for passing the Protecting Our Democracy Act today. We are thankful for the hard work of Chairman Adam Schiff, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and the other leading co-sponsors in getting this bill passed. With the anti-voter efforts that seek to silence the voice of the people and undermine our democracy continuing to advance in GOP-led states, it is more important than ever that Congress take steps like this to tackle corruption in Washington.
“The Protecting Our Democracy Act is an important bill that will counter corruption, ensure no elected official is above the law, protect our elections from foreign sabotage, and restore faith in our democracy. Along with the Freedom to Vote Act and John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, this is another bill passed by House Democrats that combines ideas from both Republicans and Democrats to ensure our elections are safe and that every American, no matter where they live, has access to the ballot box so they can make their voice heard in our democracy. The Senate must quickly pass these bills and cannot allow procedures or loopholes to stand in the way.”
