End Citizens United // Let America Vote Statement on Black History Month

Feb 01, 2022

End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on the start of Black History Month:

“Each February we take the time to commemorate and honor the contributions and legacy of Black Americans, while also remembering the long history of injustice, hardship, and the ongoing fight against inequality and systemic racism that still persists today.

“Over the last year, we’ve seen some of the most aggressive and malicious attacks on Black Americans’ freedom to vote since the Jim Crow era, with over 34 anti-voting measures passed into law that are already silencing the voice of Black Americans across the country.

“As we start Black History Month and honor the countless Black men and women who have worked tirelessly throughout our history to create a more just and equal America, we must continue to fight for equality, justice, opportunity, and dignity for every American so that we can live up to the great ideals of our nation–that all of us are created equal and deserve the promise of opportunity and the right to have a voice in our democracy.”
