“The Voting Rights Act of Virginia, passed by the legislature and signed into law today by Governor Ralph Northam, is a critical step in protecting and affirming the freedom and right to vote for Virgnians. It also serves as a reminder that the U.S. Congress has a responsibility to safeguard access to the ballot box for voters across the country at a time when millions of Americans find their voting rights under attack. We must protect this fundamental freedom from dark money-backed voter suppression efforts in state legislatures by passing the For the People Act (H.R. 1/S. 1).”
