End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision today to end affirmative action at colleges and universities:
“The Supreme Court faced an affirmative action case led by right-wing extremists, financed by billionaires aiming to safeguard their privilege. Instead of upholding a policy designed to address the deep-rooted structural racism in our country, these extreme justices dismantled this critical protection. This is a major step backwards in the fight for a more fair and inclusive society.
“As the Supreme Court continues to erode our rights and freedoms, lawmakers must take real action to reform the Court, protect our democracy, and rebuild the trust of the American people.”
Last year, ECU // LAV Action Fund endorsed a set of policies to reform the Supreme Court to ensure it protects the rights of all Americans, not just corporate interests and far-right mega donors.
