End Citizens United (ECU) today released the first in a series of videos highlighting seven “Reform First” candidates. The Reform First campaign is End Citizens United’s (ECU) project to support and underscore 2020 Democratic presidential candidates who have pledged to make anti-corruption and democracy reform legislation their first bill if elected. The candidates who have committed to Reform First are Senator Michael Bennet, Governor Steve Bullock, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, Senator Elizabeth Warren, and Marianne Williamson.

“Americans across the country want the government to work for them, not big donors, and these seven candidates are listening. They’re putting anti-corruption measures at the forefront of their presidential campaigns,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “While the Reform First candidates are prioritizing legislation to restore our democracy, President Trump continues to be the most corrupt President in American history.

“From expanding access to healthcare to combating climate change, the next President won’t be able to make progress on critical issues without first unrigging our political system. Reform First candidates are dedicated to making anti-corruption and government reform a reality and delivering on the progressive change we need to move our country forward.”

ECU is the first organization to raise money for multiple presidential campaigns in the Democratic primary. In the 2018 cycle, ECU raised $44 million including $9 million directly for candidates it endorsed. The group, founded in 2015, has raised more than $75 million in the last two election cycles. While ECU is not formally endorsing any candidate, it is highlighting candidates for its members who have taken this important step and encourages other candidates to join them.
