End Citizens United Slams Dangerous GOP Anti-Voter Bill

Mar 31, 2025

End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement strongly opposing the SAVE Act ahead of the House Committee on Rules markup of the bill:

“The SAVE Act is a dangerous anti-voter bill designed to make it harder for Americans to vote. Fueled by conspiracy theories and anti-immigrant fearmongering, this bill is a solution in search of a problem. It’s already illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal elections, and every state has systems and checks in place to verify voter eligibility. What this bill actually does is create unnecessary barriers, sow distrust in our elections, and pave the way for discriminatory voter purges. It would block millions of Americans from voting by imposing costly and unnecessary documentation requirements that disproportionately impact married women, military members, rural voters, Native communities, and low-income voters.

“This is the latest effort by MAGA Republicans to undermine the foundations of our elections, all while continuing to ignore the economic challenges Americans face, like the rising cost of living, unaffordable health care, and lack of financial opportunity.

“End Citizens United strongly opposes this anti-American bill. Instead of preventing voters from participating in their democracy, Congress should pass the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to ensure our democracy works for everyone––no matter their background or zip code.”
