End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement ahead of tonight’s Montana Senate debate:
“Tonight, we’ll see a clear contrast between Senator Tester, a third-generation dirt farmer who has spent his career fighting for working families, and Shady Tim Sheehy, a multimillionaire outsider trying to buy his way into office.
“Senator Tester embodies Montana’s proud tradition of good, transparent government. As one of the most bipartisan senators, he consistently works across the aisle to deliver for Montana families––whether it’s taking on special interests, protecting public lands, standing up for family farms, or making healthcare affordable. His record proves that he always puts Montanans first, not deep-pocketed donors.
“In stark contrast, Shady Sheehy is a multimillionaire carpetbagger who has no regard for Montana’s way of life. Since moving to the state, he’s been posing as a wannabe cowboy to pander to voters. But the truth is Sheehy is backed by special interests and the wealthy elite, and he’s willing to sell off Montana’s prized public lands to people just like him. He’s not running for office to fight for ranchers or small businesses––he’s running to protect corporate profits and privatize healthcare.
“Montanans deserve better than a shady outsider trying to buy their votes. They deserve a leader like Senator Tester, who will always put working families above corporate special interests.”
