End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller released the following statement in reaction to reports that Donald Trump will select Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate.

“Mike Pence has spent decades fighting against common-sense and bipartisan reforms, and in favor of a rigged system that stacks the deck for a handful of billionaires and corporate special interests.  A Trump-Pence ticket would be so detached from the reality American families are facing, it would be like they were behind a big, beautiful wall.”

Mike Pence voted against the McCain-Feingold Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act; voted against disclosure requirements for 527 groups; declared the Citizens United ruling a “major victory”; and publicly said he’s “grateful” to the Koch Brothers and their dark money network for spending millions to influence elections.

Pence also joined Sen. Mitch McConnell’s legal challenge to McCain-Feingold and attached a rider to Justice Department funding that would have prevented DoJ from enforcing McCain-Feingold’s ban on electioneering communication spending.  He even said, “We are on the road to serfdom in American politics with campaign-finance reform.”

End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 1.5 million grassroots members from every state and territory have taken action to support End Citizens United.
