End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller issued the below statement after Senator Bob Menendez announced he is considering running as an independent in the New Jersey Senate race:
“Anyone with a pulse knows that Senator Menendez has no path to win as an independent. This is a dangerous, self-serving move by Senator Menendez that threatens the Senate majority. There’s a real chance he could play spoiler in November if a weak Democrat is nominated.
“That’s why we’re going to do everything we can to support Congressman Andy Kim, who is battle-tested and has a record of winning tough races in a tough district. His grassroots people-powered campaign has the momentum and support that can not only win a three-way race, but help win critical down-ballot races that we need to flip the House. It’s time for new leadership that prioritizes integrity and accountability over backroom deals and corrupt machine politics.”
