End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) today endorses State Senator Sarah McBride for Congress (DE-AL).
“As a State Senator, Sarah McBride has proven to be a fierce advocate for the people of Delaware and is unafraid of taking on the tough fights,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “During my time at Victory Fund, I had the opportunity to work with Sarah when she was just beginning her career and I’ve continued to see how much passion she brings into her work to create a better state and a better nation. She understands the issues working families care most about and is focused on advancing critical solutions. From the expansion of affordable health care to protecting our environment to rooting out corruption, Sarah will continue to be a champion for the people in Congress. We are proud to endorse her and are looking forward to helping her win.”
“Delawareans deserve someone who will fight for them and put their needs first—above billionaires and dark money groups,” said Senator Sarah McBride. “I am committed to making sure working families have someone standing up for them in Congress, which is why I am so proud to have End Citizens United // Let America Vote supporting my candidacy as we work to make our government work better for all.”
If elected, McBride will continue her trailblazing legacy as the first openly trans person to hold a seat in the House of Representatives—or in any other federal office. In addition to supporting pro-LGBTQ+ legislation, she will raise awareness surrounding trans issues and combat the politics of hate threatening trans people across the country.
As a State Senator, McBride has a long record of standing up against corruption. She sponsored the Abuse of Power Prevention Act, which holds elected officials accountable for their misconduct, and also introduced legislation to criminalize the obstruction of justice. In her first term, McBride passed the landmark Healthy Delaware Families Act—providing paid family and medical leave to workers, marking the largest expansion of the state’s social safety net in decades. She has a track-record of success—expanding access to health care, investing in policies that support workers and families, and passing critical gun violence laws.
ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.
