Hallmark Demands Hawley and Marshall Return Campaign Cash; Follows ECU Call for All Corporations to Seek Refunds from Seditious Members of Congress

Jan 11, 2021

End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller released the following statement after Hallmark requested Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS) return campaign contributions, citing their role in Wednesday’s attempt to overturn the election. This morning End Citizens United called on all corporations that donated to seditious members of Congress to demand the money be returned.

“Hallmark has made clear that they do not want to be associated with the seditious effort to overturn the election and the deadly and violent attack on the Capitol. Every other corporation that funded the members of Congress who incited these riots and attempted a coup should follow Hallmark’s lead and demand their campaign contributions be returned. In America, the people choose their leaders, not a handful of political extremists using misinformation and violence to grab power and override the will of the voters. Without requesting a return of the millions in campaign cash they have donated, these corporations have both literally and symbolically funded this violent insurrection.”

Popular Information revealed the top 20 corporations that gave roughly $16 million to Members of Congress who had planned to challenge the results of the Electoral College. Those corporations include AT&T, Comcast, UPS, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, UnitedHealth Group, Walmart, Pfizer, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Lowe’s, Bank of America, Capital One, and Wells Fargo, among others.

Since the attack on the Capitol, Popular Information has reported that several corporations have decided that they will no longer give to these Members of Congress, but only Hallmark has asked for money to be returned. Their reporting includes how each of the 144 corporations that gave to the senators who voted to challenge the Electoral College responded.
