In First Round of House Endorsements, End Citizens United // Let America Vote Endorse Rep. Jason Crow for Reelection

Jun 02, 2021

Crow has led efforts to protect voting rights and pass anti-corruption reforms and does not accept corporate PAC money

End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Representative Jason Crow in Colorado’s Sixth Congressional District for reelection, as part of the group’s first round of House of Representatives endorsements for the 2022 election cycle.

Representative Crow was first elected to the House in 2018 as part of the historic class that flipped the chamber by promising to stand up for working families––not special interests and big corporations––and working to protect and expand voting rights. Since arriving in Washington, he has followed through on his promise to return power to Coloradans by not accepting corporate PAC money and twice passing and voting for the For the People Act (H.R. 1)––a once-in-a-generation anti-corruption bill that would stop billionaires and corporate special interests from buying our elections, shine a light on dark money, end partisan gerrymandering, protect the freedom to vote, and institute iron-clad ethics laws. Congressman Crow is also a proud co-chair of the End Corruption Caucus that works on keeping dark money, corporate PACs, and special interests out of our democracy.

“Congressman Jason Crow has been a standout leader in the fight to root out corruption ever since 2018 when he was one of the first House candidates in the country to reject corporate PAC money. Since the moment he got to Washington, he’s followed through on his campaign promises to restore power back to Coloradans by passing the For the People Act two Congresses in a row,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “He has fought every step of the way to represent the interests of everyday Coloradans, by working to lower the cost of prescription drugs, protect access to health care, and build an economy that works for everyone and we’re proud to support his campaign for reelection.”

“Dark money has polluted our democracy, giving rise to a rigged system that allows mega donors and corporate special interests to drown out the voice of everyday Americans. Whether it is tackling gun violence, climate change, immigration or health care reform, too often common-sense solutions fail because politicians are more beholden to their big donors than the people they were elected to represent,” said Congressman Crow. “I am honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United and I’ll continue the fight to rid dark money and corruption from our politics.”

ECU // LAV raised and spent $65.5 million in the 2020 election cycle and raised and contributed over $51,000 in support of Crow’s reelection. Its $12.5 million independent expenditure made it the 4th largest issue group spending on the Democratic side. ECU // LAV’s members raised $9.5 million directly for endorsed candidates and state ballot measures. The group also donated nearly $2.5 million directly to its endorsed campaigns.

ECU // LAV merged in 2020. The group is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. ECU led the effort to flip the House in 2018 by supporting pro-reform candidates that stood up to Big Money and corporate special interests. In 2020, ECU // LAV led the fight to protect all Americans’ right to vote, and played a pivotal role in electing anti-corruption Senate candidates that helped flip the chamber. ECU // LAV has more than four million members nationwide, including 20,700 in CO-06.
