Coney Barrett’s confirmation to the Supreme Court would further rig the system in favor of corporate interests at the expense of Americans
End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on The Senate Judiciary Committee’s confirmation hearing of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court:
“Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a threat to our democracy. If confirmed, she will side with the extreme right wing of the Supreme Court and further rig the system in favor of corporate special interests and mega-donors with radical agendas. Coney Barrett’s record indicates that she would overturn rulings that protect critical issues and rights impacting Americans for generations, including vital voting rights and campaign finance laws, and gutting insurance for millions of people with pre-existing conditions by getting rid of the Affordable Care Act and prohibiting women from making decisions about their own bodies by challenging Roe vs. Wade.
“The American people cannot afford to hand over the highest court in the country to corporate special interests. With three weeks until Election Day, Mitch McConnell and the Republican-controlled Senate must adhere to the standard they set in 2016 and allow the next president to fill the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat. End Citizens United and Let America Vote Action Fund vehemently oppose Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination.”
