David Perdue, whose numerous stock trading scandalshave quickly become his signature issue in Congress, isn’t the only corrupt senator in Georgia. Since the moment she was sworn into office last January, unelected Kelly Loeffler’s record has been riddled with rampant corruption, ethics violations and conflicts of interest.

“With less than 365 days on the job, Kelly Loeffler has made a stunning example out of why corrupt political mega-donors shouldn’t be appointed to public office. She’s embroiled herself in every shady scheme possible to benefit her own bottom line. Every scandal linked to her name is a disservice to hardworking Georgia families,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.
A breakdown of Loeffler’s corruption:
Kelly Loeffler’s corrupt conduct started before she stepped foot in Washington during her appointment process. Loeffler and her husband, who is the chairman of the New York Stock Exchange, are prominent mega-donors who gave $3.2 million to political committees, 97 percent of which went to Republican candidates and causes. After private meetings with Governor Brian Kemp, Loeffler submitted a last-minute application and pledged to spend $20 million of her own fortune to defend the Republican-held seat. Even though Loeffler self-funded, she still solicited donations from the U.S. Capitol once in the Senate, which is a violation of Senate rules prohibiting the solicitation of contributions in federal buildings. On January 24th of 2020, Kelly Loeffler attended a private Senate briefing on the coronavirus from officials including Dr. Anthony Fauci. That day, she and her husband dumped seven figures worth of stock, and then in February invested six-figures in companies that seemed poised to profit at the onset of the pandemic.
Over the course of subsequent weeks, she and her husband dumped seven figures worth of stock and in February invested six-figures in companies that seemed poised to profit at the onset of the pandemic.
