Kristina Karamo Continues to Spread Dangerous Conspiracies that Threaten Violence Against Election Officials

Jun 07, 2022

Karamo, running to be the top election official in Michigan, spreads conspiracies that threaten violence against election officials

In an interview this weekend on Salem radio with New Jersey conservative Ronald Lin, Michigan GOP Secretary of State candidate Kristina ‘Conspiracy’ Karamo continued to spread wild conspiracies about the 2020 election and used extremist rhetoric that threatens the safety of her opponent Secretary Jocelyn Benson and Michigan election workers.

In the interview, ‘Conspiracy Karamo’ once again falsely claimed that Benson was “engaging in illegal activities” because she expanded access to absentee ballots. This is not the first time Karamo called for Benson to be jailed, which former President Trump also called for, even going as far as claiming that Benson should be executed. Later in the interview, Karamo called the leaders prosecuting the criminals who tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election “enemies of the republic.”

These dangerous conspiracies fan the flames of threats and violence that have tormented trusted election officials since the 2020 election. Last year, Reuters reported that nearly 800 intimidating threats were made against election officials, including over 100 death threats, and a March 2022 report from the Brennan Center found that 80% of election officials nationwide have said that threats against them have increased in recent years.

Michiganders deserve a Secretary of State who will fairly administer elections in a safe and nonpartisan manner, not a conspiracy theorist like Karamo who escalates attacks and threats of violence against election officials.
