Marchant Refuses to File Campaign Finance Report, Violating Nevada Law

Oct 19, 2022

Marchant breaks campaign finance rules that he would be charged with overseeing as secretary of state

Jim Marchant, candidate for Nevada Secretary of State, has not filed his campaign finance report that was due on Saturday.

This is a violation of Nevada’s campaign finance laws—-the very same laws Marchant would oversee if elected secretary of state.

“Jim Marchant continues to break Nevada’s campaign finance laws, and yet he expects Nevadans to trust him to oversee those laws? It’s clear that Marchant has no respect for the law, Nevadans, or the Secretary of State’s office, and is only running to push his extremist political agenda and the Big Lie,” said Tina Olechowski, spokesperson for End Citizens United.

This is not the first time that Jim Marchant has broken Nevada’s campaign finance laws. In August, End Citizens United filed an election integrity violation report against Marchant with the Secretary of State’s office for illegally using his political action committee (PAC) to promote his candidacy. Marchant is the president of the Conservatives for Election Integrity (CFEI), a Nevada political action committee that aired TV ads advocating to elect Marchant that significantly exceeded the legal contribution limits.

Marchant never responded to any inquiries as to why he violated Nevada’s campaign finance rules. His refusal to submit his campaign finance report shows he is further trying to hide the sources of his campaign funding and spending from Nevada voters. Marchant has also refused to debate Cisco Aguilar.
