Last Tuesday, Senator Rick Scott, the Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, released the Senate GOP’s policy agenda for next year if his fellow Florida Senator Marco Rubio is re-elected and the GOP takes the majority.
The plan would be a disaster for Floridians, especially retirees. It proposes raising taxes on nearly half of the country, specifically singling out seniors, single moms, and working-class families. Senator Rubio and Scott’s agenda also threatens to wipe out the existence of Medicare and Social Security within five years, bankrupting the Floridians who rely on these critical programs every day.
While the corporate special interests that have given Senator Rubio $3.3 million will love this plan that makes it easier for their wealthy executives to cheat on their taxes and allows them to continue their price gouging to exacerbate inflation, hard-working Florida families will see right through it. This November, they’ll make certain Senate Republicans won’t raise their taxes by kicking Senator Rubio out of office.
