End Citizens United (ECU) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Elissa Slotkin’s win in the Michigan-08 primary:
“Congratulations to Elissa Slotkin on tonight’s big win. Voters made a strong statement by nominating Elissa because they know she’ll make getting Big Money out of politics a priority and work to reform the system so it works for all Michigan families.
“Unlike her opponent, Rep. Mike Bishop, who is a cog in Washington’s rigged system, Elissa will fight to reform it. She’s made it a central part of her campaign and has proven her commitment by rejecting corporate PAC money. ECU is proud to support Elissa and looks forward to helping elect her to Congress in November.”
Last week, Elissa introduced a bold reform agenda aimed to bring more transparency and accountability to Washington. Last December, ECU named Rep. Mike Bishop to its Big Money 20, a list of the group’s top targets for defeat because they put the interests of their mega-donors ahead of their constituents. ECU endorsed Slotkin in November 2017.
