The ad features Roger Champ NCOIC, 523rd Trans. Co. (Ret.), a West Virginia native, two-time Vietnam Veteran, and Silver Star recipient who Senator Joe Manchin honored by presenting him his Purple Heart in 2017. The ad is the newest addition to a $2,500,000 television ad campaign in West Virginia that started in early May and will run through June. The ad will air on local broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms in West Virginia. Champ is also a local small business owner and former county commissioner.

A recent poll, commissioned by ECU // LAV Action Fund and conducted by Global Strategy Group, shows that the For the People Act is extremely popular in West Virginia––with 79 percent of West Virginia voters supporting the bill, including three quarters of Republicans.

I ended up as a machine gunner, who ran security for truck convoys.

We trusted one another with our lives.

People in West Virginia know about service.

Most of the veterans you talk with, they’re concerned about the way Washington works.

Washington is pretty much working for themselves.

We need the For the People Act.

It’s time for tough ethics rules.

We need to crack down on corruption in both parties.

And that’s the only way we’re gonna rescue our country and bring it back and hold people accountable.

Earlier this spring, ECU // LAV Action Fund and the National Democratic Redistricting Committee announced a $30 million campaign to pass the For the People Act. The campaign includes television and digital advertising; major grassroots activation, including putting boots on the ground in key states; and grasstops education and outreach. The campaign is funding key national and local allied organizations––from good government and voting rights groups to a wide array of issue advocacy groups. This historic investment is harnessing the grassroots energy for unrigging the system in Washington to make it work for everyone, not just those on top, and will make it clear to the Senate that we must pass this bill.
